In 2012, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the inception of the Convention Center, which officially opened its doors on May 8th, 2014. The land for this impressive facility was generously donated by Gustavo Brown and Reyel Taylor of Sandy Beach Resorts, while the construction was made possible through a combination of state and federal funding. The total investment for this ambitious project amounted to approximately $110 million pesos.
Building:
The Expo Center stands as a premier venue, boasting spacious accommodations for up to 3,000 attendees. Featuring versatile infrastructure, it can be subdivided into 10 separate rooms, facilitating the concurrent hosting of up to 8 distinct events or meetings. Additionally, it offers two outdoor areas suitable for gatherings or cocktail receptions.
Upon entry, guests are greeted by a sizable lobby capable of accommodating up to 200 individuals simultaneously, complemented by a lounge area. The venue also provides ample space for registration desks and bar setups. Moreover, its conference rooms can comfortably seat 120 attendees in theater-style arrangements. Worried about parking? Fear not, as the center’s parking lot can accommodate up to 1,000 cars and 14 buses!
Events:
Since its inception, the center has facilitated a diverse array of events, including AA conventions, car shows, numerous concerts, Arizona/Sonora Commission meetings, and various other conventions. Additionally, the venue is available for rental for special occasions such as weddings and quinceañeras.
